Born in
Copenhagen in 1919, Bjørn Wiinblad studied painting and illustration at the
Royal Art Academy. With countless international exhibitions to his credit –
from New York to Tokyo – Bjørn Wiinblad has done many assignments for
Rosenthal over the past decades. Wiinblad was one of the most self-willed and
consistent artists of the 20th century. He developed a style of his
own, a style which is entirely independent of fashionable trends. |

The Aladdin collectors' plates tell the story of one of the best known figures in The Thousand and One Nights. Aladdin, fortune's favorite, who discovers the world's greatest treasure and emerges unscathed from even the most perilous situations. Bjorn Wiinblad tells the story in masterly fashion in twelve scents, portraying the twelve most important stages in Aladdin's progress. Each plate is painstakingly decorated in brilliant colors on intense cobalt blue. The valuable gold ornamentation enhances the effect of the illustrated scenes. Wiinblad's colors and draughtmanship do full justice to the splendor of the Oriental tales.

Ulla Winbladh Alingsås keramik AB Alingsås keramik startades 1947 av Halvard Oldberg och Hilding Carnemark. Från 1952 var verksamheten förlagd till egen lokal uppförd vid Malmgatan i Holmalund. Samtidigt hade man en butikslokal vid Hagavägen. I början hade man emaljarbeten som specialitet, men övergick snart till pjäser av keramik, stengods och fajans. Man lyckades så bra att man under några år exporterade stora mängder av sitt gods till USA. Några dekoratörer och konstnärer under denna tid var bland annat Tomas Anagrius. Denne hade då arbetat med Stig Lindberg på Gustavsberg. I Alingsås var han 1963-67. Ulla Winblad-Hjelmquist arbetade några år runt 1960-talet på "keramiken" innan hon flyttade till USA |
