Christmas Plates & other Commemoratives from Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grondahl, by Lars Christoffersen ( Schiffer Books for Collectors  2004)

Collectible porcelain Christmas plates have been made in Denmark by Bing & Grondahl since 1895 and by Royal Copenhagen since 1908. These and their many other popular commemorative series, including Mother's Day, Jubilee, and Children's Day plates, have been cherished by generations of people all over the world. This is the first book to bring all the plates together in one beautiful, organized reference. Over 1000 color photographs showcase every series created. Descriptions of every plate made include their English and Danish titles, date, designer, reference code numbers and current value range. Collectors, dealers, and historians alike will find the book easy to used and fun to consult because it is concise, attractive and complete.

Book Description
This reprint of jewelry and hollowware catalog pages from Georg Jensen brings eagerly sought information together in one volume. Hard to find, the original catalogs have been widely dispursed and costly, yet they provide primary information to enable identification of thousands of pieces found on the vintage market today. The jewelry section presents women's and men's gold and silver designs, including those sold at the retail store in New York that represented a selection of American-made items, and those made during the 1940s which were difficult to identify previously. The enormous section on hollowware displays hundreds of designs from the late 1950s and early 1960s. During this period Georg Jensen designers expanded their range of tea sets, pitchers, bowls, etc. to include very popular modern forms based on Scandinavian design principles. These designs have remained among the most cherished Jensen forms. The catalog descriptions include the product numbers, original retail prices from the mid-century era, measurements, and designers. A special information list identifies forty-three Georg Jensen designs in museum collections around the world. This easy-to-use volume will become a standard reference for all the collectors, dealers, auction houses, and individuals who own and are inspired by Georg Jensen designs.

Pictorial Guide To Pottery And Porcelain Marks by Chad Lage

This book features photographs of marks alongside their actual pieces for perspective. Other books simply show line drawings, but this massive encyclopedia educates collectors and researchers on what the marks actually look like on a piece of pottery or porcelain. Over 7,500 photographs of around 4,000 marks and items, from Abingdon to Zsolnay, are featured in this huge publication. Organized alphabetically by company, this book is the most user-friendly marks book you'll find, telling readers quickly what it looks like, when it was made, and who made it. Appraisers and dealers will find this guide extremely useful; they can learn a little bit about many different marks, rather than having to weed through extensive historical information on the thousands of marks produced. As an added feature, cross-referencing indexes are provided, by date, shape, and company. 2004 values

German Meissen porcelain figures made during the Kaendler Period are considered the best era in the Meissen factory's history. They are organized here by their subjects, depicting Street Traders, Court Life, Military and Hunting scenes, Italian Comedy, Children, Mythology, Artisans, and various nationalities. Many figures are matched to the original engravings that inspired them. By recognizing the colors used when the originals were made, one can date the figures; manufacturer marks alone are not reliable. This book guides and delights today's designers and collectors by presenting the figures in exquisite detail.
