Valdemar Heinrich Nicolaus Irminger
(1850-1938). Blev uddannet
på tekniskskole og Kunstakademiet i København dec. 1866juli 1873. Rejser
og udlandsophold i bl.a. Tyskland, Frankrig og Italien. Blandt mange Stipendier
og udmærkelser kan nævnes Akademiets årsmedalie i 1888 og Anckers
pris i 1902. Han var lærer og senere professor ved Kunstakademiet i
København og underviste også på akademiet for kvinder.

Valdemar Heinrich Nicolaus Irminger (1850-1938) is a well-listed artist. He was educated at Technical School and the Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen. He traveled to Germany, France, Switzerland and Italy. He received a number of prizes and rewards e.g. the first prize from the academy in 1888 and Ancker's prize in 1902. He was a member and a teacher and later a professor at the academy and also taught at the academy for women. He exhibited at Charlottenborg, the Nordic Exhibition of Art in Copenhagen and Lübeck, Kunstnerforeningen, the World Exhibition in Chicago and at the exhibition Danish painters in London. Otto Bache and his animal paintings first inspired Valdemar Irminger and after his education at the academy he continued the tradition of Carl Bloch and Anton Dorph. He did a number of portraits of personalities of his time. He was also a member of the group of young radicals called "Bogstaveligheden" and here his best friend was the Skagen painter Viggo Johansen. Valdemar Irminger is represented at the
